Richard Hetherington O'Kane, U.S. Naval officer, was born in 1911 in Durham, New Hampshire. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1934 and attended Submarine School. Her served in the submarines WAHOO and TANG during World War II, and together they sunk 55 Japanese vessels, one of the top records of all time.
